A co-located retail cannabis dispensary and curated social justice museum creates a memorable experience that customers and visitors connect with in a multitude of ways. This physical space serves as an ambassador for the Core Empowerment’s brand and continues to cultivate its loyal customer base.  

RETAIL AS AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE
The space design reflects Core Empowerment’s dual objective: educating the public about the intersection of cannabis and social justice, while furnishing an inclusive retail environment catering to individuals with varied levels of cannabis familiarity.

ENTRY + SECURITY
Situated in an underground space, the entry sequence is thoughtfully orchestrated to unfold in an inviting manner while seamlessly accommodating security measures. The meticulous selection of materials and design elements punctuate the space with visual and tactile points of interest, harmonizing the shopping and educational journey in a holistic manner.

PERMANENT EXHIBITS
The three permanent exhibits form the focal points of three queuing zones, seamlessly merging educational narratives with the shopping experience.  An immersive jail cell exhibit invites patrons to engage with real narratives of incarceration disparities, a cultivation exhibit depicts illicit indoor growing setups commonly found within residential spaces, and a terpene wall exhibit encourages visitors to experience a variety of aromatic profiles naturally found in the product.

EFFICIENCY OF OPERATIONS
The innovative spatial layout stems from a meticulous focus on crafting efficient security protocols and operational flows that seamlessly coexist within the space without disrupting the overarching retail and exhibition experience.  Back-of-house considerations, from product intake to storage, fulfillment, and point of sale, are meticulously designed to optimize workflow and revenue generation, all while remaining separated from the visitor flow.

DESIGN FOR ADAPTABILITY
The design approach acknowledges the dispensary’s evolutionary path and anticipates a dynamic shift in the retail and educational offerings to provide novel experiences for visitors.  The adaptable lighting, gallery walls for changing exhibits, and spatial arrangement are strategically devised to support a company that can evolve over time.
